Meteorologists Tracking Three Potential Hurricanes

August 16, 2017 – It is the height of hurricane season and meteorologists have begun tracking three storms that have formed in the Atlantic. The first of the three is currently tracking toward Central America and appears to hold the highest probability of entering the Gulf of Mexico. The second storm is tracking slightly further north, as is the third.

It is still to early to predict each storms ultimate destination or if any will build to hurricane status. However, the situation is being closely monitored and more accurate predictions will be available in the coming days.

It is important to remember that hurricane season lasts through November. And many major hurricanes, such as Katrina, occur in late summer. We are only two months into the current season, so there is still ample opportunity for major storms to form. Is your department ready?
